RADIANT ROME

Welcome back to my last weekly Marvellous Mediterranean Sea Blog!  Every week I will be showing you my family’s favourite Mediterranean port and the activities you can do during your short time visiting.   I have kept the best till last!  This week it’s my favourite – Civitavecchia Rome!  After a trip to Rome in August 2020 for my 21 st  birthday with my best friend Katie I have fallen in love with Rome all over again! I can’t wait to go back on a cruise.  The only downside of docking up in Civitavecchia is the 1-hour commute into Rome City Centre, but it is worth it. Many cruise companies will have a fee for the transfer, which is normally 20-40 euros.  Alternatively, you can go on the train for 5 euros.    One of the must-sees in Rome is the Piazza Navona, one of the largest and most beautiful piazza squares in Rome. There are many shops and restaurants surrounding Piazza Navona, with a beautiful large fountain in the centre of the plaza.  You can’t go to Rome and not visit the Colos

TERRIFIC TENERIFE

Welcome back to the weekly Marvellous Mediterranean Sea Blog!    Every week I will be showing you my family’s favourite Mediterranean port and the activities you can do during your short time visiting.     This week it’s my sister Sarah’s favourite port - Tenerife!   Myself and my family have visited Tenerife just about 10 times now. This is a firm favourite for our family cruises and also for beach holidays, especially around Christmas time. We even spent two Christmas Day’s there!    We docked up in Tenerife on Christmas Eve one year and my dad told Sarah and I he was taking us on a fun adventure. We left mum on the ship where she was in her happy place - a sun lounger!    We got on the excursion bus and got told by Dad that he was taking us to a water park. Little did we know it has become the best water park in the world according to Trip Advisor. It’s called Siam Park!  It is the largest water park in Europe, and has one of the tallest water slides in the world. It costs 34 euros

BOUJEE BARCELONA

  Welcome back to the weekly Marvellous Mediterranean Sea Blog!    Every week I will be showing you my family’s favourite Mediterranean port and the activities you can do during your short time visiting.     This week is my mum’s favourite cruise port - Barcelona!  I have visited Barcelona loads of times and each time gets better and better! To bring in the New Year of 2020 I did a girl’s trip to Barcelona with my two close friends Katie and Catriona. With all the times I had been to Barcelona on a cruise I had pretty much mastered the ways to get about Barcelona and what to do!  Here's us bringing in the bells at  Plaça España! Sorry back to the point!  Many cruises that dock up at Barcelona have free shuttle buses to take you into the centre of Barcelona as the port is about 15 minutes away. They drop you off at the well-known street of La Rambla. La Rambla is a 1.2-kilometre-long street which is a tree-lined pedestrian street with shops, restaurants, bars and street performances

GLORIOUS GIBRALTAR

Welcome to the weekly Marvellous Mediterranean Sea Blog!    As some of you know my family and I are avid cruisers. Every week I will be showing you my family's favourite Mediterranean port and the activities you can do during your short time visiting.   This week is my dad's favourite - Gibraltar!    With the cruise ship usually only docking for 8-9 hours, passengers are limited with time to explore the port. However, Gibraltar is a small country and therefore leaves plenty time to be a tourist for the day! In Gibraltar one of the most popular sightseeing attractions is The Rock of Gibraltar. It is well-known for being the home of nearly 300 monkeys! The cable car is the quickest and easiest way to get to the top of the rock, taking just 6 minutes.
